影片根据沢木耕太郎的原作小说改编——前拳击手广冈仁一，因为判罚不公而输掉比赛，时隔40年回到美国，遇到了同样因判罚而败北心碎的拳击手黑木翔吾，翔吾恳求仁一教他拳击，他们将为争夺世界冠军而“冒着生命危险”奋斗。。世界上最令人著迷的球類運動是「足球」，球員為了追上足球而拼盡全力，球迷則熱烈追捧心愛的球員；所有人的喜怒哀樂全都圍繞住那顆球；在香港的60、70年代，足球發展曾經有段輝煌歷史，球迷入場人次屢創高峰，時至今日，熱情不再。為了喚起香港球迷入場看球的意欲，製作組以成立一隊美女人氣足球隊為目標，期望再次燃起球迷熱情，入場支持香港足球。。Set in the 1930's, this gangster spoof tells the comic tale of a Johnny Kelly (Michael Keaton) who is forced into a life of crime in order to pay for his ailing mother's medical treatment.
